Shocking and Terrible..!

Value of "Rs 200"

In a shocking incident that has put humanity to shame, a newborn girl child died at a government hospital in Jalandhar (Punjab) after doctors removed her from the incubator because her parents could not pay Rs 200.

The girl child was born on July 20. Being a premature baby, she needed incubator support. However, civil hospital authorities asked her father to arrange money - to pay the electricity charges to run incubator – to continue keeping the baby in incubator.

A painter by profession, Sanjiv Kumar, could not arrange Rs 200 demanded by the hospital. The poor man asked many people to lend him money but no one came forward to help.

Despite Kumar’s inability to pay Rs 200, hospital authorities, showing no empathy, removed the incubator leading to the death of the baby on Wednesday night.

Kumar said, "The baby was very ill. They (hospital authorities) asked us to deposit Rs 200 first. We begged and pleaded them to admit our child but they refused."

He also alleged that the glucose drip was also removed from the baby for non payment of dues.

The child’s mother Sunita is inconsolable. “They killed my child,” she said.

Hospital CMO says that he can’t believe that an incident like this can happen. He has asked the baby’s father to submit a complaint and then he will look into the matter.

Meanwhile, the state government has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The incident marks a new low in the absolute lack of compassion in our society. A baby loses life for Rs 200, what next?

Indian teens kill granny for Indian Premier League bets

PANAJI - Indian police in Goa said Thursday they had arrested two teenage males on suspicion of killing their grandmother and taking her money to gamble on Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket games.
The youngsters, aged 14 and 15, were among a gang of five held by police for the alleged murder of 65-year-old Linda Cajetan Andrade, who was found naked in her home last month.
The group are suspected of stealing 400,000 rupees (S$9,530) and some gold ornaments from her home.
"These boys wanted money to bet on the Indian Premier League and the (football) Euro cup," police superintendent Arvind Gawas told AFP, adding that the cash was used for betting but that it was unclear how much was gambled.
"After the murder and robbery they sold all the gold and distributed the money amongst themselves," he said. "They betted during the IPL and continued during the Euro cup."
The five accused were picked up from different locations in the south of the holiday state of Goa after one of them confessed to the crime, Gawas said.
Along with the grandsons are three males aged 15,19 and 21.

Google adds face blurring technology to YouTube

Google has added a new face blurring feature into YouTube in an effort to provide visual anonymity for video on the network. Google says the new feature has been added following a recent observation from human rights group called WITNESS that no social networking site offers such technology.

To use the feature, users need to select the video they want to edit within YouTube's Video Enhancement tool, then go to Additional Features and click the “Apply” button placed under the 'Blur All Faces' option. YouTube also lets you have a preview of the video before making it live. There is also an option to delete the non-blurred and original copy of the video from your account.
Google has explained the feature with an example of the Arab Spring protests in Egypt. The Internet giant, however, points out that this feature is an “emerging technology” and that it might not be 100 percent accurate.
“Whether you want to share sensitive protest footage without exposing the faces of the activists involved, or share the winning point in your 8-year-old’s basketball game without broadcasting the children’s faces to the world, our face blurring technology is a first step towards providing visual anonymity for video on YouTube,” says Google in a blog post.

Speaking about visual anonymity, Google says it is proud to be a home for activist videos, and hopes the new feature will encourage more people to speak out against oppression. "Visual anonymity in video allows people to share personal footage more widely and to speak out when they otherwise may not," the blog post further stresses.
"Because human rights footage, in particular, opens up new risks to the people posting videos and to those filmed, it's important to keep in mind other ways to protect yourself in the people in your videos. YouTube is proud to be a destination where people worldwide come to share their stories, including activists,” the post concludes.
In the recent past, Google has been using this technology to blur faces and licence plate numbers on its Street View mapping service.
