I don't know what is happening these days, and why life is so surprising
these days, I am discovering bitter realities of life and I don't know
why every reality hurt these days.
Once again I have a story, and once again I don't want to write it. And I am not able to decide which genre I need to express this time. So, let the head think and let the fingers type, and see what comes up.
A famous TV show title read as "India Got Talent", and I know this is
right. India got talent. But ever we hear such title for any TV show
"Girls got talent" or "Boys got talent". I wonder when INDIA have no
gender why talent have gender.
My readers will be surprised that out of the blue I am talking about gender of talent. Gender of talent? You must be thinking I am gone crazy. A thing which is not living got gender. But, I am not crazy. And If I am crazy, believe me my reader after few paragraphs you will also go crazy and start believing that even a non-living thing like Talent got gender.
As indiaonlinepages.com, says there are 591.4 million women in country by now (2012) from total population of 1.22 billion, which is around 48% of Indian population, from which 50% population are between age of 0-25.
As mapsofindia.com, says the literacy rate of women 64.46% as compared to 82.14% in males, whereas whole India Literacy rate is 74.04%, as per 2011 Census updated on 25 August 2011.
nlm.nic.in, gives following reasons for this literacy inequality:
My focus is on urban India, the most developed India, with modern culture, modern outfits and modern thinking. But is this urban India got truly modern or just got developed? This is a big question, lets try to find some answers.
I really subscribe to view of my 'International Politics' lecturer, Ms. Alka Vij, when in her mood she used to say this in between her classes, "Jeans to pehan li humne par, nayi soch nahi pa sake..", which in English means, We have started wearing modern outfits like jeans or denim but our thought is still not modern.
Honestly speaking I never understood the complete meaning of this statement of my teacher. At that time I thought she means to say that we wear modern outfits but we are not easy wearing them, because after wearing them either we feel special or we feel that we are revealing, and we like revealing is other part of the story. I related my this theory with girls and boys who wear jeans.
But now, I realize which deep thought she got behind this simple looking statement in Hindi. But I will come bit later to it.
One thing is very shocking, if we talk about rural areas, we can understand differences between male and female and their rudimentary thinking about women inferior to men and that they got separate jobs to do in social setup.
But in Urban areas, I have seen a new kind of differences:

nlm.nic.in, gives following reasons for this literacy inequality:
- Gender based inequality.
- Social discrimination and economic exploitation.
- Occupation of girl child in domestic chores.
- Low enrolment of girls in schools.
- Low retention rate and high dropout rate.
My focus is on urban India, the most developed India, with modern culture, modern outfits and modern thinking. But is this urban India got truly modern or just got developed? This is a big question, lets try to find some answers.

One thing is very shocking, if we talk about rural areas, we can understand differences between male and female and their rudimentary thinking about women inferior to men and that they got separate jobs to do in social setup.
But in Urban areas, I have seen a new kind of differences:
- A brother and sister studies at same school. They obviously live at same house, and they have same bus stop. Sister is younger to her brother. But, brother have subscribed to secure and comfortable school bus, whereas sister daily wait for public transport full of unknown persons, for her same destination of school and back home.
- Another brother got cycle for reaching his tuitions. And his younger sister goes there by foot.
- A brilliant elder sister, who has immense talent in particular subject and she managed to get a dignified position is council of that subject. But she can't do overtimes and can't work with full dedication at her post, as her teacher is male. And she can do that if her younger brother who is no way interested in her subject, join her on her duty.
- Girls students in urban schools prefer to fail or have below standard performances rather to go for help to their male teachers, as they have strong instructions from parents of being aware.
- Girls can't work on Internet on regular basis as compared to boys.
- Girls can't use mobile phones, whereas boys at same house have 2-3 numbers....personal numbers.
- If a girl have social network ID like facebook, they are definitely spoiled.
- Wrong deed of a girl gets her a label for life, like if she had affair in past, so she have it with her name forever, which is highly unlikely for boys.
- At last, girls have certain places to go, certain people to talk, certain topics to talk, whereas boys are free to explore and learn.
And one common fact prevailed is, ITS CRAMMING!
If its really cramming, then why don't boys do it and top!
Its a sheer talent that women proved on every front, provided whenever she got a chance to compete.
God have not seen gender while gifting talents, then why we see while
training them. If we are afraid about their security, like teacher may
abuse them or anyone do same with them, OK, then when we will give them
chance to excel and A CHANCE TO BELIEVE THEMSELVES THAT THEY CAN SECURE
THEMSELVES. When we will give them chance to be strong and stronger.
And question above all, is this security issue enough for ruining talents?
And why don't boys have this security issue, can't they be misused?
Yes then can be misused. BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS OF 'ACCEPTANCE' AFTER
MISUSE. Girl's life is ended after such incident and Boy's get over just
like any ordinary bad happening. Can't we give this Social Security to our daughters and sisters?
This rudimentary and narrow thinking, force us to think that genders got
talent, like society give more freedom to boys as they are more
talented and less freedom to girls as they are less talented. THE
DIVISION WHICH GOD NEVER THOUGHT OF, BUT WE MADE IT A LAW OF NATURE!
And finally, I understood simple-looking statement of my teacher, We
allowed our daughters and sisters that much of freedom which declare
"US" MODERN in society. Apart from this modernity, urban and rural girls
are no different in freedom and modernity.
And today when I realised this true meaning of my teacher's
statement, I am not surprised only, also something within me is just
choked and died.
